Please join the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce's Network for Change Group and United Airlines to help clean up the Ballona Wetlands on Monday, October 26, 2026 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, and then networking /Happy Hour at Cantalini's Salerno Beach Restaurant from 4:30-6:00 PM (hosted by United Airlines! Thank you, United!)
Date: Monday, October 26th
Time: 2 - 4pm (please arrive 15 minutes early for parking and check-in!)
Participants will join Friends of Ballona Wetlands for a habitat restoration event at the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve focusing on removing non-native invasive plants to restore biodiversity to L.A.'s last coastal wetland. Our staff will provide an introduction on what we're doing and why we're doing it and lead the group through the work. We'll wrap up with a short hike out to see the marsh and a group picture.Meeting location: Park in the dirt parking lot behind Local Market and Deli (formerly Gordon's Market) (303 Culver Blvd, Playa del Rey, 90293). Next to the market is a driveway that leads to a dirt parking lot. Meeting location is at the entrance gate in the northeast corner of the lot (see attached map).
Parking: Limited free parking is available in the dirt parking lot. Carpooling, rideshare, bikes, etc., is highly encouraged as the lot will fill up on peak days.
How to prepare: Please wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, long pants and long sleeves are recommended. Closed-toed shoes (boots or tennis shoes) are required. Sun protection is highly recommended, and bring a jacket in case it gets cold. Please bring your own full water bottle (there are no water fountains on site) and gardening gloves if you have them (we have community gloves if you don't). Friends of Ballona Wetlands provides any other tools or supplies.
